Every instruction that is given to Christians in the Bible, particularly the New Testament, are indicative of what Jesus has already fulfilled.
There is no command or injunction given to the Christian that Jesus has not already done or satisfied.
There is no shortfall that the Christian has to make up.
Each and every Biblical instruction to the Christian is indicative of who God is and what He accomplished.
Biblical commands to the Christian are the opportunity to demonstrate what has already been done; not what still needs to be done.
Whether we do them or not does not change the historical fact that Jesus has already done them (for us).
In this understanding of grace there is no inconsistency between grace and works, for our works are the demonstration of His grace, not the means to secure it.
