The works of the Christian are merely re-tracing the steps of Jesus.
Christian works have already been done by Jesus for the Christian.
The good works of the believer are following in Jesus' footprints.
If they are not done, Jesus has done them for the Christian already.
The Christian's good works is the chance for the Christian to re-enact elements of Jesus' perfect life.
One of the reasons that a Christian commits himself to good works is because they are a memorial, a signpost and a celebration of the perfect life that Jesus lived for him to save him from having to live a life of perfectly good works.
