"The way in which a man accepts his fate and all the suffering entails, the way in which he takes up his cross, gives him ample opportunity—even under the most difficult circumstances—to add a deeper meaning to his life. It may remain brave, dignified and unselfish. Or in the bitter fight for self-preservation he may forget his human dignity and become no more than an animal. Here lies the chance for a man either to make use of or to forgo the opportunities of attaining the moral values that a difficult situation may afford him. And this decides whether he is worthy of his sufferings or not." – Viktor Frankl 'Man's Search for Meaning'
I am becoming ever more conscious that it how we do things—and not what we do—that is the real art of life.
The in-written meaning of life is how we live.
It is as if each moment of time is actually all of time condensed into one moment. Each small act, each small event, each small situation, each small moment of time and life contains within it a universe of power.
Let me take an example: That small, isolated, seeming 'irrelevant' moment when you are making the cup of coffee. How do you make the coffee? That cup, which sits on the table innocently and unknowingly, is the arena for greatness. That cup, staring back at you unwittingly, is the site of your next universal victory.
The Kingdom is latent. You cannot see it. You cannot touch it. But you can sense it. And the Kingdom sits above our reality with every inclination to infuse our reality—should we allow it. The Kingdom is a universe of all power. All power resides in the Kingdom. The Kingdom is a parcel of total power that, like a high weather pressure system, is set to invest itself into the low pressure moment on planet earth. The Kingdom's property is that its nature is to flow from where it is into the situations of earth.
There is a portal that sits above the cup of coffee. It is smaller than a pin-prick in diameter. It is so small it is undetectable with the naked eye. And just as well. Through the portal shines a light so bright its smallest particle has the capacity to burn a crater the size of a football pitch into the earth. And through this portal the latent Kingdom wishes to rush into the thing that you are doing on earth.
The Kingdom waits. The Kingdom is obedient to the principle of invitation. You have to invite the Kingdom into the moment. And when you do—and all it takes is the slightest nod, the faintest smile, the merest signal with the eye—then the Kingdom divests itself into that thing you are doing. In a fraction of a split second the full Kingdom rushes from its high pressure position to the low pressure of earth's moment.
The great secret to life is to look to involve God in everything you do.
And when you permit the latent Kingdom (which is bigger than the universe) to rush through the portal smaller than a pin prick in size a light will flash. Its flash is so bright that it will instantly release light and heat for thousands, if not millions of miles around. The light is so pure, so beautiful, so exquisite that it can destroy if it is observed.
That is why the Maker permits the light to flash for a time shorter than a nano-second. A piece of time so small it is undiscovered to the human race. It is such a small piece of time that it appears to all scientific endeavour that it never did occur. That is why no one has set about proving its existence. It has always existed as if an absence.
But those who live outside of earth and in the Kingdom which is patent after death can see this light. They have passed into immortality so the light does not destroy them. Their eyes have passed into glory so they can see glory without being destroyed by it. They are familiar with this light because they have seen it in the face of God. And each release of infinite light on earth by low pressure earthlings adds to the great body of light in the Real World, the Kingdom, the Realm of the Maker. The light released is not created because it is the light of the Creator. But He has allowed it to be reproduced and multiplied every time it is released in an ever growing effigy of His glory.
Where this is true of a cup of coffee, seemingly innocuous, you must imagine what sort of light gets released when you are in Viktor Frankl's concentration camp.
Just because you cannot see the infinite light passing from the universal Kingdom into the real world does not mean that it never happened.
And for this reason, I am convinced that life is far more about how do things than what you are actually do.
