Love versus knowledge

So often in life we ask God a sequence of what I call Knowledge-Why Questions. 'Why did you let that happen to me?' 'Why did you allow that to happen?' 'What was the purpose of that pain?' 'Why would a good God allow me to traipse through a valley of darkness?'

We want to know. We want this knowledge from God. We have the questions. Just not the answers.

But what are our questions entitled to? What rights do our questions have? Are we entitled to know? Do we have a right to this knowledge?

The Bible's answer is that we never have a right to this knowledge; but we have a right to His love.

The Bible says that love surpasses knowledge.

The answer to your question is actually love; not necessarily knowledge.

You can have more love than knowledge. It's God's promise to you.

He might not explain. He might not elucidate you. He might not satisfy your understanding. But He will love you. And that, the Bible says, is more than sufficient.

If you had to choose between knowing and being loved, what would you choose?

Real love is superior to knowledge. Real love from God gives you more than knowledge ever could. It has to. Otherwise love does not surpass knowledge.

What I have learned is that I need to know His love. It is always a better answer to my Knowledge-Why Questions.

The one piece of knowledge that God guarantees you is knowledge of His love.

This is why He promises you, Christian: 'That you may know this love that surpasses knowledge.'

Knowing His love, having knowledge of His love, is a vastly superior form of living to having answers to questions. In the presence of His love the questions fade.
