He who wants to save his life will lose it

The good man will lose his self unto God. No one will see. The bad man will lose himself unto the world. No one will see.

The world is to be lived spiritually. It is in your spirit that all true victories and defeats have their location. 

The spirit is that place where you are true and beyond hiding. The spirit is that place of intense privacy with God. It is that place where two things are unavoidable: God and your real self.

God is always real in the spirit. It is His promise of being spirit. We should not look for Him in places where He is not. Rather, we can find Him in places and states that He has guaranteed to be found.
