"As a man thinketh, so he is." - Proverbs 23:7
Whatever you think, whatever is going on in your mind and in your heart and in your soul, that is who you are. If you are thinking despondent thoughts - then you are despondent. If you are thinking positively and have thoughts of joy - then that is who you are.
All too often we are guilty of having many unhelpful thoughts and yet claiming to be something else, some other projection. But as a man thinketh, so he is.
So much time is spent in the futile cultivation of an external image at the expense of tending to the soul.
What makes a man is his internal world. If he thinks upon God and is full of joy in knowing God, then that is who he is. To be godly is a matter of thinking upon God, while to be ungodly is to not think upon God.
Who you are is the sum total of what passes through your mind. It is that person you ought to get to know and reform where necessary.
