The obedience that comes from faith (2)

I remain persuaded that faith is responding to that which God has said.

This formulation of faith has significant overlap with the very notion of obedience.

This discovery has led me through many tough situations. When in doubt or in difficulty, I simplify the situation to one of obedience: O God, what is it that you have called me to be or to do? When I hear that, the response must be: 'Yes, Lord, I will do that.' The internal political will to then obey is nothing other than faith. Especially when it is difficult to obey.

If I can navigate my voyage through life via milestones of obedience I will regard myself as having lived a life of faith.
