Sermon on the Mount summary part IV

31. Do not judge—Do you play God and sit on His throne and determine who is worthy of heaven and who is deserving of hell? Do you refuse to forgive some people, and summarily send them to hell with cruel delight?

32. Take the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye—When last did a brother of yours (who has no plank in own eye) sit you down and gently remove a speck from your eye? True church membership is where we are you sufficiently close to people in the church to allow them to help you and remove some stuff from your own eye?

33. Knock and the door will be opened to you—Knocking on the wall does not make it a door. In the immortal words of Coco Chanel: "Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door." We need to be people who know where God's doors are, then have the courage to knock on God's door, knowing that God will open the doors that He is standing behind.

34. Ask, and it will be given to you—The Bible says that if we ask for the souls of men, even the nations of the earth, God will give them to us. If we ask in prayer, and if we ask with a lifestyle of trying to draw other people into God's Kingdom, God will answer our prayers and give us what we ask of Him.

35. Enter through the narrow gate—To fit through the narrow gate that leads to life is a squeeze. The gate is narrow, but we are generally overloaded. We are going to have to shed some stuff to pass through it, like: Some unhelpful relationships, an unsaved boyfriend or girlfriend, wrong theological positions, the number of glasses of alcohol in an evening that exceed the number of parents you have, career opportunities in some occasions, even social activities or past-times.

36. Only a few find it—Being a Jesus follower immediately puts you into the minority. Only a few are prepared to enter through the narrow gate. But when you are with Jesus you feel like you are in the majority.

37. Watch out for false prophets—Are you flattered by voices that are unlike the Prophet on the Mount, Jesus?

38. Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.—So much work is done in the name of Jesus. But who is actually doing His will? Just because you are calling out in His name, does not stamp your work or your contribution as being in His will.
