'But he who stands firm to the end will be saved ... false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect - if that were possible'.
Why did Jesus say some Christians would fall away, while some Christians would not (and they would be saved)? And then why in the same speech does Jesus speak of the elect (without confirming whether the elect could or could not be deceived)?
Can the elect not be saved? A cheeky question.
The answer, of course, lies in what Jesus means by being 'saved', and what He means by 'the elect'. I am not sure that there are many men who have adequately been able to explain this.
