Where was Elisha when the famine broke?

True faith is not surprized by answered prayer.

 

Samaria was under siege. The Arameans had surrounded the city. All the food supplies had ended. The people were on the brink of a terrible disaster. All except Elisha. He prophesied that God was about to reverse the siege. Cynically, the king's officer uttered those immoral words: 'Even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?'

 

Elisha bore a conviction in his heart that God would rescue the city. He was right. God did bring about a miraculous reversal.

 

When the famine broke Elisha was sitting in his house, teaching the elders of Israel. He was not concerned with what people saw with a natural view. He saw with a supernatural view. The people were facing imminent demise. Elisha was anticipating imminent freedom. His faith and trust were in God. He was cooly and calmly going about the business of the Kingdom in the midst of what seemed like total disaster.

When God opens the floodgates over your life to reverse your siege, will He find you cool, calm and collected, going about the business of the Kingdom? Or will He find you faithless, tyrannized by the view of the natural?
