Blessed are the pure in heart

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

What is purity? We all have a general sense of what purity is. We all want to be clean and not dirty. However, the more important question is 'Where is purity?'

The Bible's answer is that purity is in the heart. To understand what purity is, is to see where purity is - in the heart.

God is not concerned with external shows of purity. He is more concerned with the internal state of the heart. Church is not the masquarade of external purity. It is the safe place where those that love inner purity gather.

When we look at God our hearts desire His purity. Looking at God changes our hearts. A focus on external acts of purity does not change our hearts.

When we look at God our hearts are made pure. It is then that Jesus' promise kicks in: The pure in heart get to see God! If we look at God we will see God!

The great secret to purity in the Christian faith is to look at God. We find our hearts changing. And we find we see more of God.

Unfortunately, the inverse is also true. Those who stop looking at God are susceptible to internal impurity.
