The final days of my time in South Africa was spent with my brilliant family in Hilton, South Africa. It was close on a week of pure happiness.
My mum was the one who introduced me to Jesus. Her nightly prayers shaped my life and put into me a deep love of the Lord. It was her generosity, her example and her inner devotion to the Lord that have possibly had the greatest impact upon me. One day she shall discover the full weight of what she has done. For now it is partially shielded from view. It was entirely fitting that my last days in South Africa should be spent in her home. I will always love her and be beyond grateful.
My dad is the man I respect for all time. He got given a boy and made a proper man of him. It was my dad's example that has shaped my love of righteousness and my pursuit of truth. He taught me through countless lessons and hours of instruction that an absolute truth exists and that the right way is the right way because it is right. The gravity of these lessons fashioned the very depths of my insides. I grew up in a world where it is honourable to do right and dishonourable to do wrong. The truth is a line, a thin line. But it is a line. And it separates right from wrong. My dad's thorough example and pattern of this made the concepts of truth, sin and salvation entirely obvious when I was introduced to them. He gave me my love for truth.
It was in the warmth of my mum's home and under the soundness of my dad's roof that the Lord saw fit for me to depart my beloved nation.
