The beauty of years of marriage

"Like everything which is not the involuntary result of fleeing emotion but the creation of time and will, any marriage, happy or unhappy is infinitely more interesting than any romance however passionate." - WH Auden 'A Certain World: A Commonplace Book'

Marriage is designed to be a lifelong treasure that grows more beautiful with age. It constitutes investments in inches to produce miles of value. Each step blood soaked, yet joyfully given. Each page stained with dirty finger marks, yet happily read. We do not love our grandparents less for having wrinkles; we love them more.
