The audience of one

In a world where we act for so many people we are to remember to do things only for One.

He is your Boss at work. Work for Him. Work to please Him. He pays your salary, He brought you there. He is with you in your work. He is sympathetic to your difficulties at work. His eye is on you. Each day at work can be a religious occasion as you offer each piece of work you have to do to Him. The next project you have, give it to Him and tell Him you are going to do it for Him. Worship Him with that piece of work. Give the next piece of work to Him as a gift dedicated to Him. It will be real, it will be personal, it will be imperfect. But it will be from a sincere heart to a loving Father.

If you write, write to please Him. Don't write for the masses, for the publicity of it all, for the acclaim. Write to put something beautiful into the world that personifies HIs character and nature. Don't write to be famous; write to manifest some aspect of Him.

We spend so much of our lives living for others, quite forgetting that we are here on earth to live for His exclusive glory.

We spend so much of our time requiring others to give to us in some way. Others can give us affirmation, security, approval. Rather, we should spend much of our time requiring ourselves to give to God in some way.

Worship - which is the proper giving of things to God - both liberates us and satisfies our sense of purpose.
