The flesh boasts so much. It has these wild ambitions. It rates itself above its own capacity. But the flesh is so weak. It is incapable of truly holding us.
And this is the peril of the flesh: For something so weak, it harbours such ambitions. There is a double distortion in either direction. The flesh assumes a greater self-importance; yet the flesh's true strength is faltering at best.
Life in the Spirit is full of power. Life in the Spirit has a Godward form of ambition called 'faith'.
Life in the Spirit is a double victory; life in the flesh is a double peril.
