God has been teaching me the following lessons. God's lessons should always captivate our attention. His lessons are more important than our circumstances. He is often more concerned with the work in us than He is concerned with the work through us. God's derivation of glory is not always obvious to the natural mind.
Lesson one: The test of whether you have love for your enemy is whether you can pray for that person as you would for your best friend.
Lesson two: Joy internal is something that no man nor no circumstance can deprive you of. It is strictly something that can only be self-forfeited. No external force can rob you of it.
Lesson three: God is entirely consumed with His own glory.
Lesson four: Opposition is often a sure sign that you are headed in the right direction.
Lesson five: When Joseph was in jail he was tempted with an unusual temptation: God allowed seemingly attractive opportunities to arise that were nothing more than premature quitting points. God will allow false dawns across your path to see whether your faith is in God or in the false dawn. Under all circumstances the gift is not where our faith should be vested. It should only be vested in the Giver, whether He is giving or not. In His time His gifts are perfect and we should wait on Him, which is subtly different to waiting for His gift.
