God is jealous for His own glory. This is the organizational principle of the universe. He shall share His glory with no other. No man must be able to share His glory. Yet many try to.
Jesus Christ is the sole head of the church. Yet this is not obvious in many churches. Often, a man is the head of the church. The flesh lusts for prominence.
The willingness to relinquish prominence is one of the surest tests of Christian maturity. The ability to bow out gracefully and timeously is a virtue of greatness.
I want to be the kind of leader who steps aside so that others more gifted and more able can emerge and take things to heights I never could. This ability to make way for others does not magically occur. It is birthed in the crucible.
The real mark of a man is not whether he obtains success. Rather, it is how he handles success. A man's heart toward success can only be fashioned in the heat of the crucible.
Success that is carnally obtained, or success that is God-produced, are both reason enough to relinquish the success at the right time.
