The answer to the languid cry

Psalm 44 ends with a languid cry. O God, rouse yourself and come to our rescue, for we are considered as sheep to the slaughter. It sounds a note of desperation.

God's answer is found in Psalm 45. We see a triumphant King riding out to battle. He makes war. He has roused Himself. He has come to the psalmist's rescue. He is unanswerable and unstoppable. Critically, the King rides out on "behalf of truth, humility and righteousness."

Truth, humility and righteousness make a potent catalyst. He defends those who love Truth, who humble themselves beneath His absolute Lordship, and who take His gospel of righteousness seriously.
