Remember those words in John 'You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it'?
It's like being given a signed, blank cheque. You just fill in the blank. Or do you?
The next verse runs like this: 'If you love me, you will obey what I command.'
Seems like Jesus can ask anything of us.
Do we dare to ask anything of Jesus? Do we dare let Jesus ask anything of us? Do we dare make ourselves a blank cheque for Him to fill in the blank?
There appears to be a relationship between the two. Asking anything of Him implicitly recognizes that He can ask anything of us. Make outrageous demands of Him, but know that He is quite capable of making outrageous demands of you. The greatest saints are generally those who live in the extreme of each.
yes indeed he makes outrageous demands from us as we do... yea we can draw from his resources to meet those demands exceedingly since he has empowered us to do so on the cross...
