The month of November was spent packing up. I returned on the 21 October; we left Cape Town on 22 November. One month to suddenly pack up our entire lives. We sold things, gave things away, saved things for Singapore. He said He would scoop us up and transport us swiftly. One month to demobilize one's life is swift. Bank accounts, powers of attorney, admin, change of address, tax, bills, final health checks, sale of car, find new tenants, take children out of their schools, etc.
Once a man asked Jesus if he could say goodbye to his family and then follow Jesus. Some times the Kingdom demands you forgo the luxury of a timeous goodbye.
Our final days in Cape Town were spent admin intensively. Every scrap of admin, every small detail, every unit of demobilization, we offered up to God as a sacrifice unto Him. The plates we sold--we do this for You, Lord. The bank accounts we changed--we do this for You, Lord. The cleric tasks--we do this for You, Lord.
True spirituality often finds its traction in the most ordinary, mundane of affairs. In fact, it is often the test of true spirituality--to find God's reason in the nitty-gritty of life. If He can be Lord over my admin He must surely be Lord everything else of mine.
