9 July 2005 Coffee with Dave Shepherd

Winter mornings in Cape Town when the sun shines are impossible to better. The day is crisp. It is an autumn left-over that survived winter's purge.

Dave Shepherd agrees to meet at Seattle, Cavendish. It is an unusual meeting. It would be that scene in the spy movie where the protagonist comes into possession of the vital, story-defining information. I saw my world changing before me as I drained the regular latte to its dregs.

'You must do it, Purch'. You must do it, Purch. This is a window not to miss. Ask God boldly for your desires. Run faster, not slower.

It is his encouragement that gets me over the line. If the penny had been dropping, in that conversation it dropped.
